What are “Smart Homes”?
Home Automation, or smart home, is the use of technology to facilitate day-to-day tasks, whether in your home or office, making automatic some habitual tasks that in a conventional environment would be in charge of the residents, leaving more free time to enjoy the comfort of home. Through the integration between the various electronic and electrical devices it is possible to control your home from your tablet or smartphone, by gestures or voice commands and thus trigger scenes, which are sets of actions, or pre-programmed tasks that will be performed automatically, making your home really smart.
How does it work in practice?
It is possible to automate specific things like lighting (on / off, color, intensity control), air conditioning, audio and video equipment (TV, DVD, Receiver, SKY, NET, Sound, etc…), motorized curtains and awnings, projectors, screens, irrigation, on / off equipment (coffee maker, toaster, etc …), cameras, alarm, access control, lock, sensors (gas, flood, motion detection, door / window, light, temperature, humidity , air quality, etc …), touchscreen switches, motorized furniture, energy management (how much and where it is being spent), water management (how much is being spent – allows detection of any leak, etc …). There are many other actions and equipment:
– Dinner Scene: Adjusts the lighting (turns off unwanted circuits and lowers others’ lighting to 50%), turns on the sound in the desired music, closes the curtains for more privacy and turns on the air conditioning.
– Movie Scene: Go down the projector and screen, turn on the SKY and your sound system, put on the desired channel and at the appropriate volume, close the curtain and turn on the air conditioning.
– Scene leaving home: turns off all lighting and equipment in your home.
– Cena got home: turn on lighting, TV, NET and put it on the sports channel.
– Wake up scene: open the curtains to wake up with ambient lighting, turn on an ambient sound at a low volume and prepare your coffee.
Automatic scenes:
– Every time your child gets home, take a picture of him and send it to your email and a notification to your cell phone.
– Every time your maid gets home she sends notification to your cell phone.
– Simulation of presence for when you travel that will give the impression of having people at home, turning lights on and off, television and opening and closing curtains.
– Irrigation: irrigates your garden twice a week (except when the forecast is rain – hence the system identifies and does not care not to waste water unnecessarily).
– Security (alarm): detects invasion and makes the house “crazy”, leaves the lights blinking, turns on the TV, maximum volume and sends notification to your cell phone.
– If your older parents / grandparents do not open the medicine drawer at the required time, send notification to your cell phone
Benefits of automation: comfort, safety, economy, protection, accessibility, practicality, entertainment, sustainability, property valuation.
It looks like a movie thing. Give examples of films / drawings in which smart houses appear to facilitate the reader…
It is true. The concept of ‘smart homes’ has been explored in designs like the Jetsons and also in Iron Man.
Is it a recent concept?
No. Home automation has been around for a long time, however, what used to be seen as “luxury” or just for status – even due to the investment that was necessary – today is starting to be seen differently, with the popularization of the concept and with the fall in investment. According to data from last year, from Portal G1, automated systems are 50% cheaper than 5 years ago.
Are there many houses of this type in the Jundiaí region?
